A career guidance workshop was held for second consecutive year under the aegis of Kuvempu University Department of English Alumni Association at Jnana Sahyadri campus in Shankaraghatta near here on Saturday. Speaking after inaugurating the programme, he said that strong communication skills will help the students to land in green pastures.
Students at post graduation level should learn the context based communication. It is at this stage that the vocabulary should be enriched. Striking the right chord in interpersonal communication will have greater impact on the audience, he noted.
At the level of post graduation, students are matured enough to take decisions and make choices. He suggested the students to be adoptive and flexible in their approach.
Gone are the days when workers were considered as mere nuts and bolts in a machine. The workers in modern management practice are considered as partners in the process of growth. Students should keep updated about such latest management practices and happenings in the world of business and commerce, he observed.
He appreciated the Alumni Association for organising the career guidance workshop. Such workshops will enable the students to take right decisions with regard to career, he stated.
Sharing his views, Deputy Director of Distance Education Prof M Venkateshwarlu said that Alumni Associations are wealth of education institutions. Alumni Associations need to be evolved as forums for exchange of knowledge and information among the members, he remarked.
